Buying your own power wheelchair is a major investment and you need to take your time to find the right one for you. You have consider the budget, your disability, the environment you need to live in before choosing the right power wheelchair.

Depending on your disability a Power wheelchair can get you around as you will not have to be required to push yourself around which means you keep your independant lifestyle. It will also save you the strain of pshing yourself around.  Power wheelchairs can be more efficient in some ways; certain models can cover thresholds of two to three inches allowing you to more easily pass through some doorways.

These options are less economic, but in some cases, can still be covered by insurance or Medicare.

Your Insurance or Medicare can help pay for all or part of the cost of your new power wheelchair. Some models are covered by neither therefore unless you can afford a high end model you are recommended to look for a wheelcair which lies within the budget and will be covred by your medicare.

If your moevemntis impaired then maybe a power scooter will be more suited. People who are disabled but able to push themselves in a wheelchair at home can use these as a more economic alternative if they want to use a more convenient form of transportation outside. Power scooters are recommended for people who tire easy and use a cain.

Buying any power wheelchair is an important decision. Your doctor or physical therapist may be able to help you find the right one for your needs, so be sure to ask before you start shopping. Medicare and insurance companies will generally not pay for replacement units for a number of years, so make sure you get the right one
